The global authority in superyachting

Baltic Yachts has signed an order for a custom 24 metre sailing yacht, commissioned by an experienced yachtsman and first-time client of the shipyard. The Baltic 80 Custom has been described as a "multi-role yacht" capable of "fast offshore cruising and excellent performance on the race course". Easy handling was part of the owner's brief with a self-tacking jib set on a wide track and in-boom furling. The rig design has yet to be confirmed.

A streamlined exterior profile is the work of judel/vrolijk & co with a low-level coachroof, which incorporates a fold-down dodger and bimini for cockpit protection, and a distinctive reverse angle stem. The Baltic 80 Custom will be built in advanced composites using pre-preg SPRINT and a foam core throughout.

Accommodation is for six guests in three double cabins with a further cabin for two crew. The interior arrangement and styling will be handled in-house.

Other features include twin rudders, a lifting keel and a conventional propulsion unit driving a folding propeller. A large stern garage will house a jet-driven Williams 395 tender.

Henry Hawkins, executive vice president at Baltic Yachts, said: “She’s a particularly sleek and sporty looking yacht and could be regarded as a ‘new generation 80’ in a size range which has recently been attracting attention from clients. A lot of design work has been done to produce what should be a great performance cruiser-racer.”

Construction is due to begin in January 2023 with a launch date in the summer of 2024. Also under construction at the Finnish shipyard is a 33.8 metre Baltic 111 Custom with delivery in 2023 and a 33.5 metre all-carbon Baltic 110 Custom.
